Govt say they’re considering changes to payments for Ukrainians




High ranking officials in the government have hinted at more adjustments to be made to the compensation for Ukrainians who are seeking asylum in Ireland, reports Breaking News.

In response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the European Union issued a temporary protection order to provide aid to individuals escaping the conflict.

It imposes duties on EU nations to grant beneficiaries of temporary protection (BOTPs) certain rights, such as access to appropriate housing and residency permits, reports Breaking News.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Ireland has issued more than 105,000 temporary protection orders (BOTPs), of which around 72,000 are housed in state-provided housing.

But in March, the government modified what it was providing for newcomers, reports Breaking News.
