GRA say they’re disappointed over McEntee’s refusal to attend annual conference

“Disappointed” to learn that Minister of Justice Helen McEntee will not be attending the Garda Representative Association’s (GRA) annual conference in Mayo next week, the GRA stated, reports Breaking News.

After the GRA declined to invite Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, Ms. McEntee stated that it would “not be appropriate” for her to attend.

Due to an ongoing disagreement regarding rosters, there has been a great deal of tension between the association and Mr. Harris, reports Breaking News.

Brendan O’Connor, president of GRA, expresses surprise at Ms. McEntee’s choice.

“We’re disappointed that the minister won’t attend because we always seen that the relationship we have with the minister is different with that we have with the Commissioner. The issues we have with the commissioner in our portfolio is in relation to pensions and conditions of employment do not really cross over with operational policing. We saw a separation of power which is in place in most democracies,” reports Breaking News.
