Grandmother charges family for coming over to Christmas dinner

Left with a big bill after shopping for Christmas dinner? You could do the same as one grandmother in the UK – and charge your family a fee for tucking into the traditional meal of turkey and ham.

According to the Mirror, Hayley Garbutt hands over a bill to each family member to cover the cost of her Christmas dinner shopping. And not only that, but she even manages to make a profit on the big day!

Tired of huge food bills, Garbutt started charging for the dinner and told the Mirror that the money she collects allows her to buy a wider variety of food. She makes sure that she has everyone’s favourite food and drinks and lays everything out as a buffet so they can help themselves.

It sounds like a good idea to us, and Garbutt guarantees there’s lots of Christmas cheer by dressing up as an elf or reindeer on the big day.
