Twelve people are confirmed dead after a plane crashed shortly after taking off in Kazakhstan.
The aircraft, a Fokker 100 model operated by local aviation company Bek Air, took off from the city Almaty, bound for the Nur-Sultan, the country’s capital. The plane got into difficulties shortly after leaving the ground however, eventually crashing into a nearby building.
At least 66 people, many of them surviving passengers, were taken to hospital in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
