Green Party Minister, Roderic O’Gorman outlines government response to new Afghani asylum seekers entering Ireland – ‘Anyone arriving in Ireland (from Afghanistan) will not have to enter direct provision’




Green Party Minister for Children, Roderic O’Gorman has outlined his coalitions government response to new Afghani asylum seekers entering Ireland;

As reported in Breakingnews.ie “Anyone arriving in Ireland (from Afghanistan) will not have to enter direct provision”.

Direct provision is where asylum seekers are housed whilst they await their asylum decision. We are not told by the Green Party Minister will now house Afghani asylum seekers.

It is not known if Afghani asylum seekers will be security vetted before they are allowed to enter Ireland and receive what amounts to automatic asylum in Ireland.

The Green Party minister said that the Government had drawn up the list of the people in Afghanistan who would be receiving the 195 Irish “resettlement” visas already granted.
