Groups of youth thugs cause havoc at library in Blanchardstown by climbing building and allegedly assault young woman




A group of teenagers reportedly caused chaos in the Blanchardstown area last night when several teenagers “climbing buildings”.

The incident happened at 6:50 p.m. Monday night at the Blanchardstown Library. A witness told Dublin Live that librarians and secondary school students were evacuated from the library after an incident and some students were seen climbing buildings outside.

In photos from Dublin Live, several teenagers appear to have climbed the stairs on panes of glass in front of the library building. There was also a large gathering of teenagers in front of the compound at the front.

The witness told Dublin Live: “Students were frightened and shocked and librarians were unable to take control of the situation. Ambulances were present and gardaí later I have been told,” they added. A spokesman for Fingal County Council which runs Blanchardstown Library confirmed to Dublin Live that there was a “disturbance” at the library last night,” reports DublinLive.

A spokesman said: “There was a disturbance in Blanchardstown Library on Monday 30th January at 6.50pm among a group of teenagers who were studying at the Library. Staff at the Library calmed the situation and called shopping centre security and An Garda Síochána,” reports DublinLive.
