Guilty: Gayle Newland, the woman who pretended to be a man charged with sexually assaulting her friend

25-year-old Gayle Newland has been convicted of sexually assaulting her friend while pretending to be a man. The woman even using a prosthetic penis and blindfold to conceal her true identity.

Newland who pretended to be Kye Fortune, had sexual relations with the young woman on numerous occasions over the space of 2 years. Newland uses a fake Facebook profile with a photo of an Asian-American man.

The victim was told to wear a blindfold during all encounters and only discovered her lover was a woman when she reomoved the blindfold. Kye Fortune was supposedly self-conscious about his fading muscle tone while undergoing treatment for a brain tumor after a car accident.

The jury convicted Newland, from Willaston, Cheshire, of three counts of sexual assault. She was cleared of two other counts of sexual assault such as similar offences said to have taken place at hotels in the city.

Newland was bailed until sentencing on a date to be fixed in November.
