Fianna Fail’s leader Micheal Martin is finally set to get his long-wished-for post at the helm of Ireland’s Government, despite being only elected at the sixth count during the last general election, and thus turning the entire electoral process into an outright charade.
Fianna Fail and Fine Gael joined forces to keep Sinn Fein out of its democratically elected position in Government, enlisting the Green Party as a convenient crutch to ensure a majority.
Ireland now faces another extended period of ‘same old, same old’ politics, with nothing to show for it.
