
Thirty-seven percent of Irish people say they feel pressured to over-cater for Christmas parties, and fifty percent of the food purchased for the holidays frequently goes uneaten, reports Breaking News.
According to research from Too Good To Go, a marketplace app for excess food, 25% of Irish customers throw away bread over the holiday season, and 23% throw away seasonal condiments like brandy butter and cranberry sauce.

Eight percent discard “a lot” of Brussels sprouts, while sixteen percent discard “moderate” amounts of potatoes and carrots.
Many perfectly fine foods are being thrown away needlessly this Christmas season.
Ireland sales manager at Too Good To Go, Machaela O’Leary, said: “We all love the joy of a festive feast, but it’s important to remember that food waste can have a significant impact on our planet. By taking simple steps like planning meals and using leftovers creatively, we can enjoy the holiday season without contributing to this issue. Together, we can make a difference and all contribute to reducing our food waste over the busy Christmas season,'” reports Breaking News.
