Harris Government has no plans to re-tender National Children’s Hospital contract and they remain committed to the project




The Minister for Health Simon Harris has said that the Government is not looking to re-tender the construction contract for the National Children’s Hospital, despite overrun costs.

Speaking to RTÉ’s Marian Finucane Show, the Health Minister said that the Government are committed to the project and are not looking to make changes.

Although he admits a public enquiry is needed to address the facts in terms of overruns, he said that he and the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar believe that those involved in the project should continue doing what they are doing in order to deliver the hospital that is desperately needed.

Harris adeded even though the Government remains committed to the project and supports the current contractor, he did state a change would be made on the advice of the PWC.

Although he stated that he fully believes that no one is to blame for the overruns, but a detailed review is needed to address the issue in terms of overspending.
