Harris says banks should show some ‘cop on’ during Covid-19 outbreak

The Minister for Health Simon Harris has called on the country’s banks to show some ‘cop on’ during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Claire Byrne Live, Minister Harris said that banks must play their part during the outbreak by easing financial pressure on its customers.

Harris said now was the time for everyone to pull together and financial institutions should remember that the public were very good to them during the economic downturn.

He added that banks should show the same goodwill and compassion that was shown to them and therefore use common sense and compassion when it comes to issues like loan and mortgage repayments.
