Conor McGregor talked the talk, but tonight he proved he can walk it also.
The Dubliner is the new Interim UFC featherweight World Champion.
McGregor fought Chad Mendes in a vicious encounter which saw both men bloodied and bruised by the finale.
McGregor’s win came just three seconds from the close of the second round. He hit Mendes with a straight left smack punch to the right jaw, which saw Mendes fall to the deck and McGregor “took over” with around 10 punches to the head.
The ref jumped in, stopped the fight and declared the Irishman the winner.
The event took place in a jam-packed MGM Grand.
Next on the cards is a main title shot against Jose Aldo – who was injured this week and replaced by Mendes. The bout will more than likely take place in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
