Dr Tomas Ryan has made waves after describing what the Irish government should do to get Ireland down to a level of ‘zero covid’ and how we could be out of lockdown properly and indefinitely by the end of March.
Ryan said that Ireland could be out of lockdown indefinitely, well at least as entire country, by the end of March or early April.
He said that if we have a proper, hard Level 5 lockdown, something that the government hasn’t implemented would see us out of lockdown with a very strong sense of normality returning, including rugby matches with crowds and wet pubs open, albeit with social distancing.
Along with that, we could see people coming into Ireland being placed in quarantine in hotels to counteract any new cases coming into the country. Likewise, if an outbreak was to happen in a town, village or county, we could do a localised lockdown where just that town, village or county would be locked down for a short period of time until the situation was under control rather than the entire country being placed on lockdown again for a month.
Social media users reacted positively to what he said claiming that Ryan spoke more sense in 5 minutes than anyone in government has in the last year.
