The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has said that schools will return on a phased basis through February and March.
Speaking on RTE’s Claire Byrne programme, the Tanaiste said that the Government plans to have schools open beginning in February.
Varadkar said given the current Covid-19 case numbers the Government decided to leave current restrictions in until march 5th in order to hospitals the chance to recover.
He went on to say that the Government will continue to engage with education partners in order to facilitate the reopening schools starting with classes for those with special needs.
