Health experts say that it’s likely a coronavirus case will be detected in Ireland

On last night’s RTE news, Fergal Bowers reported that it’s more than likely a case of the coronavirus will eventually hit Ireland but that health experts are ready.

One case of the coronavirus doesn’t mean Irish health experts would change the status from containment to mitigation.

The priority would then shift from treating the more severe cases. Both Northern and Southern Ireland are working together.

52 people were tested in Northern Ireland. In preparation for a confirmed case, an isolation unit has been set up in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The HSE said that people need to be aware of the symptoms. You need to isolate yourself from people if you’ve been in contacted with someone who has the virus or if you have been in one of the affected areas and are feeling unwell. It can take up to 14 days to show and can be spread from coughs, sneezes or touches surfacing that those infected have touched.

The WHO said people should cover their mouths when coughing, avoid contact with people who may have a flu and wash your hands and use gel.
