Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says everything must be done to protect our hospitals




 

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that everything within our power must be done to protect the nations hospitals.

Speaking on RTE’s This Week programme, the Minister for Health said that the Government is considering the advice put forward to them by the National Public Health Emergency Team.

Donnelly who said that it is not inevitable that the new strain of Covid-19 found in the UK is in Ireland, warned that the country’s hospitals must be protected from any surge in Covid-19 Covid-19 cases.

The Health Minister also said that he wouldn’t be surprised if the the new strain was found in Ireland given the amount of travel that has taken place.

He added that the Government will review NPHET’s advice to introduce further restrictions before the end of Christmas.
