A distraught woman has been found pushing her dead toddler on a park swing in a heart breaking story in the US.
The tragic story came to light after a witness called the police after the woman was seen pushing the young toddler for what seemed a rather unusual amount of time.Officers arrived at the scene a short time later were they found the 24-year-old still pushing the young child on the swing, officers observed the scene for few moments but quickly realized that the boy was sadly dead.
The young child who is understood to have been 3 years old had no obvious signs of trauma but was believed to have been dead for at least several hours. The heartbreaking story unfolded at Wills Memorial Park in La Plata, Maryland, about 35 miles south of Washington D.C.
A police spokesman has said a post-mortem examination will take place later.
The boy’s mother, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a nearby hospital for medical tests.
Police also they have launched an investigation into the incident.
