Heartbreaking: Parents of severely disabled children face losing their home in three months

This is an appalling story and an stark indictment of the heartlessness wielded by banks and financial institutions in this country.

Terence and Nicolette Connolly, a married couple with two terminally ill children, are facing the ghastly prospect of losing their home after giving up work to look after their kids.

The children, Ben and Jake Connolly, were born with an extremely rare syndrome called Allan Herndon Dudley Syndrome. There are less than 200 known cases worldwide, and they are the first case in Ireland. The syndrome causes epilepsy, severely impaired brain functions, low muscle tone, and a short life span.

Terence and Nicolette had to give up work to look after their kids, and thus they fell behind on their mortgage payments. A deal was reached with the bank at the time, but such deal expires in September.

A Ben and Jake Connolly Trust has been setup. All monies raised will be given to another family with a child suffering similar disabilities, or to a charity when the children pass away.
