A heartbreaking photo depicting a new born baby twin embracing her dying sister has been shared by their mother.
Grieving British mother Amy Campbell takes comfort in the poignant photo which depicts her daughter Charlotte embracing her sister Esme as her little life ebbs away after they were born 14 weeks premature.
Charlotte was initially the baby which struggled most but after six weeks Esme’s health began to deteriorate due to excessive fluid on her brain.
As Esme struggled to live and finally began to succumb her sister Charlotte seemingly embraced her in a ‘goodbye hug’.
Doctors had informed the Campbells that both baby girls are likely to die and that they should give consent to turn off their life support.
Baby Charlotte had one last chance to be with her sister which she not been since they were born six weeks before hand.
“In her short life she taught us nothing but courage and bravery. She taught us what love means in its purest form and the best ways to live our lives. I think she has always looked out for her sister,” -Amy Campbell.
