It was a case that touched the nation.
Only July 28th, 1998, Kildare woman Deirdre Jacob tragically “vanished” from outside her home and has never been seen again.
Now, 20 years on, her file has been brought to attention again after gardai believe the 18-yr-old was murdered on the day of her disappearance.
RTE’s Primetime aired a special show aimed at helping to locate the young woman and depicted precisely where she went and what she did on that fateful day.
Her parents, sister and friends all recounted stories of their loved one along with gardai giving a detailed description of where Deirdre was last seen.
Various suspects have been questioned over the years, including Larry Murphy who allegedly was in the area at the time, but alas no one has been charged as of yet.
People are asked to share Deirdre’s story, image and try and recount their own steps from that time in an effort to piece together what really happened.
Gardai emphasised that if someone knew something and didn’t come forward at that time to not worry about it and just please come forward with what you know now.
