A man in the US is facing charges of child abuse after deliberately placed a young toddler inside a tumble dryer and locking him inside.
The shocking case which occurred in Wilsonville, Alabama, has resulted in the defendant Steven Todhunter, 25, facing charges of aggravated child abuse after he carried out the act multiple times between May 2017 and May 2018.
According to The New York Post, Todhunter purposely placed the boy inside the switched on tumble dryer and locked himself inside by wedging a chair in front of the door.
It is also alleged that Todhunter threatened to put the boy inside the washing machine and warned him that the water would be boiling hot inside.
Although it is not known what Todhunter’s relationship is to the boy, reports in the US say court records show that the accused has a three-year-old son.
It believed that Todhunter was arrested in connection with the allegations last weekend and he has since been charged with aggravated child abuse of a child under the age of six.
