Animal welfare workers in Co Limerick have sadly confirmed that a puppy who was found left in the cold in freezing temperatures on Wednesday, has sadly passed away.

In a heartbreaking post on Facebook, Limerick Animal Welfare sadly confirmed that the pup named Petey sadly passed away on Thursday.

Staff at the Animal Welfare group said that the seven month old pup died as he was unable to recover after having a low body temperature.

The post reads as follows: “Sadly Petey passed away it was too much for his little body to recover.”

“Thank you to all the kind people who donated and offered to care for him.

“All money raised will go to care for more animals like Petey that need help.”

It is believed that a number of donations were made by the public in order for Petey who was under the care of staff at Mid West Vets to be saved.
