Four year old Jagger, a champion Irish Setter, became sick and died just over twenty four hours after winning second place in his class at the Crufts dog show.

Autopsy reports show that the animal had been fed beef cubes with poison sewn inside. It is understood that the vet performing the autopsy said that two or three different poisonous substances had been used, and identified one of them as a slug killer. Toxicology results will be available next week, and a more detailed report on the cause of death will be revealed.

It is not believed Jagger was deliberately targeted, but rather it looked like a random attack. Authorities put forward the theory that it might be someone with a grudge against the dog show.

CCTV footage from the show is being examined.

The dog’s owners released a statement saying that “To person who has done it, hope you can sleep well knowing you have killed our love, family member and best friend to our son.”
