Met Eireann have issued a Status Orange weather warning, with strong winds forecast in five counties.
A wind warning was put in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo last night, with wind speeds of 60-65km/h expected. Gusts of 100-110/130km/h are likely.
A Status Yellow warning remains in place for much of the rest of the country.
Southerly winds, becoming west to southwest in direction later on, with gusts of 90-110 km/hr are forecast for Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford.
