One day without any barriers is all hearing impaired Muharrem dreamed about but it’s not long until he is brought to tears when he realises a whole neighbourhood has learned sign language… just for him.
Samsung have released their latest advertisement and I have to admit, it did bring me to tears too. The advert was organised by Samsung to promote its video call centre for the hearing impaired. The firm teamed up with an ad agency and spent a month setting up cameras around his neighborhood.
In the video, which is filmed in Istanbul, Muharrem is shown walking through his neighbourhood with his sister Ozlem as he meets strangers who surprise him with their communication skills.
Muharrem and his sister come across a man in a local shop who, to his shock greets him with sign language.
In another scene Muharrem bumps into a woman who apologizes to him in sign language, they get into a cab and the driver signs “hello” to them before eventually being dropped off in a public square where a group of neighbours greet the pair in sign language.
It’s not long until Muharrem is brought to tears, the video has now been watched over 3 million times and yes, you can now watch it here too:
