Heavy rain on the way today, with significant risk of flooding across many areas

There is no Spring weather in sight just yet, as heavy rain across the country will cause significant flooding risks in many areas.

Today, Wednesday, will be a rather cold and dull day, with persistent rain and temperatures reaching 6-9C.

There is a freezing night in store too, with temperatures forecast to dip to -4C in places tonight.

The unsettled weather will remain until Friday at least.
