Charlee Corra, a member of the Disney family, has come out publicly as transgender.
Roy P. Disney is Corra’s stepfather and the grandson of Roy O. Disney, a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company.
Charlee Corra, who has been widely referred to as Charlee Disney in news reports, said that even though they have a lot of support and privilege, their journey has been difficult;
“I had very few openly gay role models,” Corra, 30, said. “And I certainly didn’t have any trans or nonbinary role models. I didn’t see myself reflected in anyone, and that made me feel like there was
something wrong with me.” reported NBC News.
Disney has pledged $100,000’s to an LGBT advocacy group in recent weeks. Disney has also recently announced they will include a kiss between two lesbians in the Children’s cartoon Lightyear.
