Enoch Burke, an evangelical Christian teacher in County Westmeath, has been imprisoned for the third time for disobeying a court order to remain away from Wilson’s Hospital School and not trespass, reports Breaking News.
During the High Court’s vacation session on Monday, Mr. Justice Michael Quinn remanded Mr. Burke back to Mountjoy Prison for violating the conditions of an injunction that Mr. Justice Alexander Owens had issued the previous year.
The court stated that the injunction was never challenged and is still in effect.
The judge found that Mr. Burke had violated the provisions of the order, stating that “conclusive evidence had been put before the court,” which was not contested. The judge stated that Mr. Burke was a frequent visitor to the school, reports Breaking News.
The judge ruled that Mr. Burke should be sent to Mountjoy Prison due to the teacher’s continued contempt and postponed the case until October 11th for review.
The judge further stated that before the case is brought back before the court, Mr. Burke can clear his record of contempt and get his release from custody at any moment.
The judge stated that he was considering testimony from the acting principal of the school, John Galligan, and the chairman of the board of management, Mr. John Rogers, who both testified that Mr. Burke’s constant and noticeable presence at the school was interfering with the staff’s ability to perform their daily tasks for the students, reports Breaking News.
Mr. Burke was arrested at the school’s campus that afternoon, and he was taken before the court on Monday evening.
Accompanied by his parents, Martina and Sean Burke, Mr. Burke said that he was being imprisoned by the courts for his rejection of “the hellish ideology of transgendarism.”
Mr. Burke acknowledged in his legal filings that the judge would return him to prison, reports Breaking News.
When he claimed that the school “commanded” him to refer to a male student as “they,” he went on to say that the institution had violated his rights as a Christian.
Citing the Gospel and the Book of Genesis In order to reiterate his Christian views on gender, St. Matthew claims that the instructor called the court case “a mockery of justice,” reports Breaking News.
