He’ll never call a girl a boy: Teacher Enoch Burke thrown back in prison for contempt of court

Enoch Burke, a secondary school teacher, was offered a High Court judge’s parole for Easter, but he declined, therefore he will stay behind bars for contempt of court, reports RTE.

In September of last year, Mr. Burke was incarcerated a second time for failing to sign a commitment to follow a High Court ruling directing him to avoid the school where he worked.

Due to his contempt of court, for which the judge stated there was no precedence, he was imprisoned for somewhat more than 300 days.

But, when the session came to a conclusion, the judge ordered that Mr. Burke be taken out of the courthouse and sent to Mountjoy Prison, reports RTE.

During the hearing, orders were also given for Mr. Burke’s sister Ammi and mother Martina to leave the courtroom.

Two times, gardaí pulled his brother Isaac from the courtroom.

Justice Mark Sanfey stated that his original plan was to free Enoch Burke from jail and give him two weeks off around Easter so he could think things through and “find a better way” or a new tactic, reports RTE.
