Enoch Burke has raised new objections regarding the appeals process connected to his dismissal from Wilson’s Hospital School, reports Breaking News.
The former history and German teacher has been involved in a long-running legal dispute with the Co Westmeath school since 2022, reports Breaking News.
Mr Burke was suspended following incidents linked to a request from the school’s then-principal that he address a student by a new name and pronoun. He was later dismissed from his teaching role.
Burke has consistently argued that the direction was unconstitutional and infringed upon his right to express his religious beliefs, reports Breaking News.
He has spent more than 680 days in prison after being found in breach of court orders directing him not to trespass on the school grounds.
Three disciplinary appeals panels have since been established to deal with the matter and review his dismissal from the school, reports Breaking News.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mr Burke raised a further objection to the current panel, which he claimed required “the dropping of the disciplinary proceedings” against him.
He also called for “a fulsome apology” from the school’s board and sought his “full reinstatement” as a teacher of German and history, reports Breaking News.
Wilson’s Hospital School and the Department of Education have both been contacted for comment.
