16-yr-old Patrick O’Sullivan from Jobstown in Dublin spoke candidly last night on the Claire Byrne Show about how he intervened in a vicious attack on a woman which he spotted on his way home.

The attack took place 11 days ago on a Friday night at 8:30pm. The event saw the brave teenager tackle a man who was grabbing a woman’s handbag and wrestling with her.

Patrick ran towards the man and, having boxed as hobby, gave the attacker a left-hook which, unfortunately broke Patrick’s hand in the process. Patrick felt a “belt in the stomach” and carried on helping the woman as the attacker fled.

The boy rang 112 and asked for an ambulance. He accompanied the woman home and when he got there, he realised he had not been punched in the stomach but rather he was stabbed in the abdomen.

The brave young man rang had to get life-saving surgery because a major artery had been stabbed.

He is recovering well, but along side his mother – the hero has called for stricter sentences for knife crime as a spate of knife crime has occurred in the month of November alone.

A very commendable young man.
