A teenager was been ommended for risking his life to save two boys from the River Boyne, Co Meath.
Callum Keane, 16, jumped into the river after watching the two 11-year-old boys struggle in the water.
The president of Meath River Rescue said few teenagers would have done the same thing. According to RTE, Christopher Rennicks also advised people not to get into water because of the dangers attached.
He said it was a dangerous river and described the particular part of the Boyne where the rescue took place as particularly dangerous. He said it was 8 or 9 feet deep at this point.
Locals have said that Callum is hero and deserves an award for his bravery.
