Gardai are warning people of SMS-based scams currently doing the rounds in Ireland.
Over the past few weeks, some people have reported receiving texts in the middle of legitimate bank communication threads. These texts lead to fake websites that attempt to capture the victim’s banking details.
People are advised to be vigilant and to dismiss and report any suspicious messages. People are also asked to share this information particularly with their elderly friends and family.
