“He’s dividing the nation” – People aren’t happy with Martin going hard after those who choose to not get vaccinated

Regardless of your vaccine status or where you stand on whether you should get them or not, one thing everyone agrees on is that the so-called leader of the country shouldn’t be doing his best to divide people who are doing their best to get through the pandemic.

Micheal Martin seems bent on breaking families, friends and loved-ones apart from each other over their vaccine status.

Some people have chosen not to get vaccinated, for whatever reason they have deemed is best of them, but it’s quite unfair for Martin to try and kick them to the curb by appearing to blame them for the reintroduction of restrictions.

The Taoiseach said people not vaccinated against Covid-19 were now known to have a disproportionate impact on Irish healthcare services and intensive care beds.

Micheál Martin said it was as clear as day that people who do not get vaccinated put their own health and that of others at risk.

He said the government was trying to raise awareness of the need for vaccination and now more than a thousand people sign up every day to receive the first and second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

He said these campaigns had worked and the focus was on reaching communities that might be reluctant to vaccinate.

The Taoiseach said Ireland has achieved one of the highest vaccination rates in the world thanks to a voluntary vaccination approach.
He reiterated that vaccination was the key, but also underlined the expected arrival of antiviral treatments for the new year.

He said these measures should make it possible to treat people more efficiently than before during the pandemic. Martin also said the children’s immunization program will start in the new year.
