The Notorious Conor McGregor has made history tonight after he beat Eddie Alvarez to win the the lightweight crown to become double weight champion.
The Dublin native has become the first fighter in the sports history to hold two titles simultaneously after he defeated the Philadelphia native by knockout in the second round.
McGregor who previously claimed that he would take Alvarez in the first round almost had his when knocked the reigning champion to the mat three times. However a determined Alvarez managed to hang on to and finish the round.
Clearly rocked by the first round blows Alvarez looked ragged going into the second and McGregor seized his moment when he connected with two left hooks and a right to claim a famous win.
