It was a historic night in New York last night as ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor the first fighter in history to become double champion after he beat Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight title at UFC 205.
The Dublin native claimed the crown by defeating the Philadelphia native by knockout in the second round.
McGregor who is also reigning featherweight champion wrapped up the victory after he connected with two left hooks and a right to knockout Alvarez in dramatic fashion.
Mcgregor who always looked in control dominated the first round and almost sealed victory early on when he knocked the reigning champion to the mat three times, but he was made wait after the Philadelphian managed to hang on.
However the Dubliner seized his opportunity in the second when he floored a bewildered Alvarez to place himself into the history books and send the onlooking crowd into raptures.
