He’s worried: Varadkar says referendums are ‘in the balance’

Prior to Friday’s voting day, the Taoiseach stated that the Family and Care referendums were still up for grabs, reports RTE.

Leo Varadkar reiterated his demand for a double yes vote in the referendums, arguing that doing so will contribute to building a society that is compassionate and inclusive for coming generations.

Speaking at a Ranelagh canvass, he stated that the referendums aim to acknowledge the equality of all families and provide the first-ever particular recognition to family carers, reports RTE.

According to Mr. Varadkar, people usually only become involved with the issues during the last few days of a referendum campaign.

According to Mr. Varadkar, the Constitution is a declaration of principles as well as a legal document, reports RTE.
