Higgins to remain in hospital until at least Thursday following weakness

Áras an Uachtaráin has stated that President Michael D. Higgins would be in the hospital until Thursday due to a small temporary weakness, reports RTE.

The 82-year-old was brought to Dublin’s St. James’s Hospital last Thursday.

A statement claimed that following positive test findings, he is anticipated to fully recover.

“They have indicated no serious or long-term concerns for the President’s health. Following consultation with his medical team, President Higgins has agreed with their recommendation that he remain in hospital for an extra few days in order that they can monitor his blood pressure,” the statement said, reports RTE.

On Thursday, he will go back to Áras an Uachtaráin.

A “short period of recuperation” has been recommended by the medical staff, and the President has been urged to restrict the scope of his public activities in the upcoming weeks, reports RTE.
