It maybe only August 1st but one major department store in Britain has already gotten in the festive mood by opening it’s dedicated Christmas store today.
Yes! With 145 days to go until Santa pops down our chimneys, Selfridges in London couldn’t wait to open their winter wonderland. The UK’s biggest department store has turned its fourth floor into a Christmas spectacular complete with Santa Claus, snow and 50,000 Christmas decorations.
Although the move has been criticised by many Selfridge’s Geraldine James strongly defended the stores early opening, saying: “Despite the summer weather, we’re in full festive mode here at Selfridges.”
“We have so many customers visiting from all over the world and eager to snap up festive souvenirs on their summer holidays, which they can’t buy at home. So, we have to make sure we’re ready to showcase Christmas decorations they will truly treasure.”
The Christmas madness doesn’t stop there as Brown Thomas on Dublin’s Grafton St is set to open their Christmas department in just three weeks time.
