Holidaymakers heading to Spain over the next few days and weeks are being warned of extremely high temperatures of 40C and possibly higher in parts of the country.

The incoming heatwave will be sparked by a plume of hot air drifting from Africa.

Temperatures for Majorca this week are expected to hit 37C, with the possibility of even higher temperatures by the weekend and early next week.
