Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that the country’s primary focus must now be to protect the most vulnerable as case numbers and numbers of those in hospital continue to grow.
It’s understood that Holohan is concerned that surgical work could be halted or slowed down as a result, affecting other patients in hosptial that don’t have covid.
The HSE say that they’re trying to not be put under pressure that would stop surgeons holding planned surgery work.
