The Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan has issued a stern warning to the Irish public and said that it’s not too late for people to cancel their Christmas plans.
Holohan also said that it’s not too late to avoid big crowds this Christmas.
The CMO said that he’s very concerned with the high numbers of confirmed covid cases over the past week with the Omicron variant said to be growing rapidly throughout the country.
It’s understood that Holohan said case numbers go rise to 20,000 a day in January due to the transmissive nature of the new variant.
