Dr Tony Holohan has said that he regrets what happened to women affected by the CervicalCheck scandal.
The Chief Medical Officer was pushed by journalists at Thursday evening’s NPHET press briefing where he was asked whether he would apologise to the women affected by the CervicalCheck disaster.
He refrained from apologising saying that the Taoiseach had apologised for the State, but said that he regrets what happened to the many women affected by the CervicalCheck.
Over 200 women were affected by the CervicalCheck scandal after they received incorrect smear test results and later developed cervical cancer.
A number of the women have since died and many others are terminally ill as a result of the failings during the scandal.
Many people on social media have been commenting about this since the pandemic began and since Dr Tony Holohan was leading the charge against covid.
