The government is expected to seek further details from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) on where Covid passports could be used outside of the hospitality sector.
The issue will be discussed by the Cabinet Covid Committee this evening, where Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan will meet with the Taoiseach and senior ministers.
These meetings are also often attended by Professor Philip Nolan of NPHET and Director General of Health Services Paul Reid.
The government believes that the NPHET should provide a detailed breakdown of areas where Covid passports could be used in the future.
The CMO raised the possibility of badges for gyms, hairdressers and barbers at a press conference on Wednesday.
