Homelessness hits new record in Ireland, with almost 12,000 people officially listed as homeless -true figure probably far higher

Homelessness has hit a new record in Ireland, with almost 12,000 people officially listed as homeless, but the true figure is probably far higher.

The latest official tally is 11,988 people as of March 2023, an increase of 2.1% over the previous month.

This was before the end of the eviction ban, so the figure is much higher now.

Minister for Housing Daragh O’Brien is known to still enjoy the confidence of the unelected Government however.
