Anne Dunne from Tipperary had been backpacking and working in Australia when she was involved in a horrific accident causing her scalp to become torn off along with one of her ears.
Ms Dunne had been cleaning a conveyor belt at a packing shed in Shepparton, Victoria, when the accident occurred. It was said to be an uneccesary job without training.

Ms Dunne’s hair became caught in the rotating drive shaft and her scalp was ripped from her head. One of her ears was also torn off.

The company, T&R Contracting Shepparton Pty Ltd, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates Court on Thursday. They were fined $60,000 and ordered to pay legal fees of $8,091.

Ms Dunne was aiming to complete the requirements of rural employment to gain a second year on her working holiday visa.

A support campaign for Ms Dunne raised more than $35,000 to help with her recovery from her serious injuries.
