A horrific incident happened in the town of Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan last night.

Around midnight, a man who is believed to be from Northern Ireland walked into Castleblaney garda station – for an unknown reason.

The man then ran out and jumped into his Audi A6.

A garda, aged in his 20s, ran out of the station and horrifically got caught onto the car and dragged up the street 500m as the car sped off.

It’s understood the garda sustained bad facial, arm and leg injuries.

Tragically a man aged in his 40s was in his Skoda car when the Audi crashed into him.

The man in the Skoda was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
