Horrific: Investigation underway in Co Cork after a dog has its four paws cut off whilst still alive

Gardai in Co Cork have begun a major investigation after an innocent dog had its four paws horrifically cut off while it was still alive. It is also understood that the poor was skinned in the disgraceful attack.

The trgaic and despicable act was reported to vets and gardaí in west Cork recently. The news comes as animal groups in the county have become increasingly worried about the number of animal cruelty cases occurring in the Cork region over the last few months. It is understood that a total of five files outlining the details of animal cruelty incidents in Cork are currently being reviewed by the Director of Public Prosecutions. It is believed that Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals have discovered three unlicenced puppy farms and two incidents of deliberate cruelty to dogs over recent months.

Meanwhile the society’s inspector for Cork, Lisa O’Donovan, has said she could not reveal any information regarding any the ongoing investigations, bit did say that in one case, 13 dogs were removed from a premises.

Ms O’Donovan said: “A puppy farm, or a breeding establishment, is somewhere with six bitches or more. One of the places we came across had 30 to 40 dogs.” Ms O’Donovan also stated that files for the DPP were completed with cooperation from gardaí and the Department of Agriculture.
