Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed that the Islamic State has seized 700 people and is holding them hostage in a remote part of Syria controlled by US backed forces.
The UK Express reports that President Putin has said that some of the hostages are Russian, European and US citizens. The terrorist group has issued an ultimatum to Russia which has been directly supporting the Syrian government in its was with Islamists terrorist groups for several years now.
While President Putin has not specified what I.S have demanded they have begun executing people at a rate of 10 per day.
The Islamic State has suffered a series of defeats and set backs over the past 18 months, loosing almost all of the territory it has seized and seeing tens of thousands of its fighters killed or abandon the Jihadi cause.
This has increased the desperation of the residual I.S loyalists who still call for supporters to carry out atrocities in its name in Western nations.
