Authorities in the US State of South Carolina have confirmed that a woman has been killed following an encounter with an alligator.
According to reports in the US, the 58-year-old woman was killed after she encountered the alligator at Salt Cedar Lane on Kiawah Island.
It is not yet known how the incident occurred but officials say the alligator has since been shot and killed.
